Kate Langhart, MSW, LCSW
Kate has worked in the social service and child development field since 1995.
She was awarded her undergraduate degree in Human Development and acquired an elementary teaching certificate. Kate's undergraduate work focused on young children, particularly those with special needs - behaviorally, emotionally and physically. She assisted in a longitudinal study of adopted Chinese baby girls and their motor skills development over the course of three years. In 1999 Kate provided care and support to severely traumatized children in a long-term residential setting. Between 1999 and 2003 Kate managed a family orientated resource and case management program called the Family Focus Program in Maryland. The program served families of many cultures and backgrounds and focused on parenting skills and resource management. She taught parenting classes on several occasions.
Kate continued her focus on families through graduate school between 2003 and 2005, earning her MSW from Smith College School for Social Work. She served families in the urban setting with emotionally and behaviorally challenged, traumatized, adopted, and foster children as well as children in kinship care. Between 2005 and 2008 Kate worked as a family therapist in a Family Based program in Bucks County, PA. In this position she served families with children with a wide range of diagnosis, experiences and backgrounds. Between 2008 and 2010 Kate worked for the Institute for Children and Families outpatient program as a child, adolescent and family therapist.
Kate also provided EEG biofeedback (neurofeedback) treatment for adults and children. Additionally, Kate offered parent coaching and designed and delivered parent and professional trainings on attachment and trauma.
Kate has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2005, is a member of the NASW and ATTACh.
